This service is for you if you want to verify the validity of a certificate or a copy of an act issued after March 29, 2005. The date of issue is indicated at the bottom of the document.
If the document was issued on or before March 29, 2005, consult the section entitled Attestation on the Directeur de l’état civil’s website.
The service Verification of the validity of a certificate or a copy of an act allows you to verify, free of charge, the validity of a certificate or copy of an act ofbirth, marriage, civil union or death issued by the Directeur de l’état civil.
The service also indicates if, since the document was issued, the death of the person, or one of the persons concerned by the act consulted, has been entered in the Québec register of civil status, or if an entry of dissolution of marriage or of civil union has been recorded. Lastly, it indicates whether a document has been declared stolen or lost.
