Online application for a certificate or copy of an act using Rapid Secure Access Number (RSAN)

Avoid additional processing time!

Additional time will be needed to process a declaration of birth, marriage, civil union or death if the form is incomplete or contains non-compliant information.

Online applications for a certificate or copy of an act may not be modified or canceled.

Since June 1, 2022, all acts of civil status are drawn up in French in the Québec register of civil status.

The certificate and the copy of an act contain the information that appears in the act recorded in the register. The spelling is that of the act, and not the spelling provided in the application for a certificate or a copy of an act. In addition, certificates and copies of an act are issued in the language in which the act was drawn up.

Applying for a certificate using a rapid, secure access number (RSAN) is an easy, 3-step process :

  • Enter your RSAN*.
  • Order your documents.
  • Pay online.

I have read and accept the conditions of use.

This service is for you, if :

  • you are the parent of a child whose birth has just been entered in the register of civil status and you have received a notice of confirmation of birth with an RSAN;
  • your marriage or civil union has just been entered in the register of civil status and you have received a notice of confirmation of marriage or civil union, with an RSAN.

If neither of these situations applies to you, use the regular online service.

* The RSAN is generated when a new birth, new marriage or new civil union is entered in the Québec register of civil status. It appears on the notice confirming that the event has been entered sent by mail, to parents and spouses. Only notices of confirmation mailed since April 19, 2010 bear a RSAN.
