Élections municipales 2021: : Veuillez prendre note que les maires, conseillers municipaux, conseillers d'arrondissements et autres élus municipaux sont autorisés à célébrer des mariages et des unions civiles tant qu'ils occupent cette charge. En conséquence, ils ne peuvent plus célébrer de mariages ni d'unions civiles après que leur fonction ait pris fin. Ainsi, l'information au registre des célébrants concernant l'autorisation de certains élus municipaux pourrait être modifiée après réception des résultats électoraux du 7 novembre 2021.
2021 Municipal Elections: Please note that mayors, municipal and borough council members, and municipal elected officials are authorized to officiate marriages and civil unions as long as they are in office. Consequently, they can no longer officiate marriages and civil unions after their term in office comes to an end. Therefore, the information in the Register of officiants regarding the authorization of certain municipal elected officials could change after receipt of the election results on November 7, 2021.
The register of officiants is a database containing the names of persons authorized to perform a marriage or civil union. Future spouses can consult this register on line to check that the officiant they have chosen is authorized to perform the ceremony on the scheduled date.
The register of officiants is updated daily and can be queried over a two-year period starting from today’s date; that is, from March 31, 2025 to March 31, 2027.
N.B.: You cannot consult the register to find a potential officiant, but rather to check that the person you have chosen is authorized by the Directeur de l’état civil to perform the marriage or civil union.
The search is done in three steps:

- Enter the date of the ceremony and select the officiant
- Obtain the search result

Enter the surname and given name of the officiant you have chosen. Only the hyphen, apostrophe and alphabetic characters can be entered in these boxes. The search will be done phonetically, giving results beyond the exact name you entered.
The information given conforms to the register of officiants of the Directeur de l’état civil as of September 26, 2024. The masculine form is used only to simplify the text and it designates both women and men.
